In celebration of the Sinulog Festival 2014, GMA Regional TV formally launches the Kapuso-Adopt-A-Bangka Campaign thru a partnership signing with the Bantayan Island Association of Hotels, Resorts, Bars, and Restaurants, Inc. last January 18.
The campaign supports the Back to Sea Project which helps rebuild and rehabilitate bangkas, a major tool of livelihood for local fisherfolk, at the Island of Bantayan in Northern Cebu.
As the Kapuso Network supports holistic and transformative rehabilitation of the communities affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda, GMA Regional TV will be helping the Back-to-Sea Project through nationwide info campaign to get sponsors and donors.
With the campaign's ambassadress, Kapuso Primetime Queen and lead star of the new soap, Carmela, Marian Rivera, Regional TV, thru GMA TV Central and Eastern Visayas (Cebu Station), aims to help the Back to Sea Project provide long-term livelihood opportunities for the fishermen and their local communities. Rebuilding a typical bangka will cost between Php15,000.00–Php30,000.00 and can last for 15–20 years.
For the first wave of the campaign, the team is targeting to rehabilitate/rebuild 100 bangkas. To date, the campaign has already generated close to a Php1M (including pledges).
Present during the partnership signing are: Mr. Oli Amoroso, AVP / Head for Integrated Marketing Services of GMA Regional TV; Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, Kapuso-Adopt-A-Bangka Ambassadress; Mr. Allan Monreal, President of the Bantayan Island Association of Hotels, Resorts, Bars, and Restaurants, Inc.; and Ms. Ann Marie Tan, GMA TV Cebu Station Manager.
